At the beginning of May, the ANCIP research network came together to kick off the second funding phase granted by the BMFTR. The two-day workshop took place on May 7-8, 2026, at PRIF in Frankfurt, which now coordinates the research network. The workshop focused on intensifying cross-institutional ANCIP cooperation and on developing strategies to consolidate ANCIP’s research agenda. We planned new meeting formats within the network, discussed concrete formats for knowledge transfer, and planned conference panels.

From the 9–11 February, the ANCIP team held its network meeting at the Research Centre Global Dynamics (ReCentGlobe) at Leipzig University. The workshop focused on the project’s outcomes, jointly discussing the new publications, and, further, on preparations for knowledge transfer activities in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

From 7 to 9 July, the members of the ANCIP network met at the Peace Research Institute Frankfurt (PRIF) for the seventh biannual coordination meeting. With nine months left of the current funding period, the focus of the workshop was on finalizing the outputs of the ANCIP network, including preparation of journal articles as well as the new ANCIP webinar series.

From the 15th-31st of October 2025, Hilda Koyier was in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, attending the 5th edition of the Amani Africa training on the AU as well as conducting field interviews in the context of her research project on “The Role of AU Liaison Offices in Conflict Intervention Processes”.

From 12 to 29 October 2025, Mona Saleh conducted a field research stay at the ECOWAS Commission in Abuja as part of her ongoing work within the ANCIP network.

Several members of the ANCIP network presented research findings at this year’s 66th Annual Convention of the International Studies Association (ISA) in Chicago, USA. As the largest conference in the field of International Studies, the ISA took place from 2-5 March 2025 under the theme “Reconnecting International Studies”.
