Field Research Stay at ECOWAS Headquarters, Abuja

From 15 to 21 February 2025, Mona Saleh conducted a field research stay at the SADC Secretariat in Gaborone as part of her ongoing work within the ANCIP network. The visit focused on SADC’s role in peace and security and its cooperation with external and regional partners. It provided an opportunity to learn more about SADC’s institutional structures, funding practices, and approaches to mediation, early warning, and election observation.

The visit offered broader insight into SADC’s current priorities and its efforts to strengthen regional mechanisms for conflict prevention and response. It also shed light on how SADC positions itself within Africa’s wider institutional landscape. The material collected during this stay will contribute to her  research on regional organisations and institutional overlap in Africa within the ANCIP network.
