ANCIP at the 17th Pan-European Conference: Exploring Local Inclusion in West African Peacebuilding

This summer ANCIP was part of 17th Pan-European Conference on International Relations (PEC) held at the Université Catholique de Lille from 27. until 31 August 2024. ANCIP-fellow Jasmin Schmitz presented her research on Local Inclusion in West African Regional Peacebuilding Structures.

As part of the section Reimaging Peace Studies, the Panel Rethinking Peacebuilding: Local Dynamics and Global Interactions, chaired by Ana Isabel Rodriguez Iglesias,  made space for contributions looking at various aspects of local actors in peacebuilding, considering the local-international nexus in Cypris (Mark Barrow), local participation in ECOWAS’ early warning system (Jasmin Schmitz), the role of faith and grief in ground-up peacebuilding (Noga Glucksam) and the defining of authority in post-conflict spaces (Teresa Almeida Cravo).
