Intersections of (Non-)Military Interventions
The aim of this subproject is to examine the intersections between military and non-military interventions and their respective practices. Its central conceptual and empirical question is how military and non-military intervention practices are interconnected, and what implications these linkages have for strategies aimed at promoting sustainable peace. The project contributes to the use and further development of the ANCIP database while also generating new empirical and practice-oriented insights based on case studies on the prevention of violent extremism in West Africa. Beyond that, the subprojectmakes a conceptual contribution to broader debates within peace and conflict research concerning the relationship between military and civilian approaches. Methodologically, the project also strengthens the still underutilized field of mixed-methods research in African intervention contexts.
